| Montaimont
- The balconies of Maurienne |
|
A pleasant outing for the family, the route
is a panoramic path over the Maurienne valley. Keep an eye on
mountain activities - mountains pastures and industry - and an
eye on history. Montaimont is well-known for sending to Paris
oyster sellers and taxi drivers. See a baroque chapel (for visits,
see at the townhall), an old mill and a bread oven... a good look
at old times !

From
col du Chaussy, a long descent will take you to the hamlet of
Les Mottes and then the trail traverses on the mountain sides
through woods and pastures, and finally joins the road before
Bonvillard.
In the direction of Taramur, you will find the path and arrive
at the ruins of the mill on the Settaz. The last section will
take you to la Perrière.
You can travel the same path on the way back, or use the road.
There are a few more difficult alternate routes. Number 1, close
to civilization, links Les Rieux to la Perrière via Montaimont
! Taken the other way round, it offers an alternate return path
to the initial route. Number 2 starts under col du Chaussy, for
a more hilly ride through the woods. Number 3, after the mill,
offers a view over Lac du Loup and a technical descent on the
way back.

From exit 27 on A43, or N 6, take D 77 to
Hermillon and across Le Chatel, Montvernier, Montpascal, to reach
Col du Chaussy.
