The Mauriennaise circuit
Difficulty

The route

This route, quite frequented by local riders, provides a beautiful loop on the valley floor, avoiding on most of the way the major roads and steep climbs that are so characteristic of the valley.

Not physically demanding, this circuit is a good opportunity to discover the villages of Maurienne.

A little history
Originally the valley floor was not used as a passageway because of the fierce and feared floods of the Arc, which modified its bed regularly, and the road to Italy used the valley flanks or mountain sides when glacial rock barriers closed the valley floor.

The former route still exists and is used by many secondary roads.
