The route

Varied, very pleasant in summer for its shade, this circuit visits the beautiful vallée des Huiles and Val Gelon.

A little history
Set on the glacier rock barrier of Aiguebelle, the feudal castle of Charbonnière dates back to 1043; it became a fortress in the XVIth century and was destroyed by the Spaniards in 1743. To visit the ruins, leave your bike on the banks of lake Charbonnière and follow the path for 15 minutes.

The Tour de France climbed the Champ-Laurent col once in 1979, when leader Régis Simon, injured, lost the yellow jersey. When the Tour last passed the Cucheron in 1998, Heulot arrived first.
