Not
very frequented, unfolding both in Maurienne and Combe de Savoie,
it partly uses a cycle track on the banks of the river Isère.
A little history
In 1860, Savoie becomes French again and takes a strategic importance
: the Aiton-Chamousset fort is built according to the defensive
principles of Séré de Rivière.
The battery and barracks of the Aiton fort, a counter-battery
in Montgilbert, other batteries and forts at intervals : the whole
defensive system will be decommissioned later due to progress
in artillery.

 From
Aiton, beautiful views over lake Barouchat and the Arc/Isère confluence.
From Bonvillaret and Bonvillard, panorama over the Bauges (col
de Tamié, pic de la Belle Étoile) and les Aravis massifs..
