The route

Not very frequented, unfolding both in Maurienne and Combe de Savoie, it partly uses a cycle track on the banks of the river Isère.

A little history
In 1860, Savoie becomes French again and takes a strategic importance : the Aiton-Chamousset fort is built according to the defensive principles of Séré de Rivière.

The battery and barracks of the Aiton fort, a counter-battery in Montgilbert, other batteries and forts at intervals : the whole defensive system will be decommissioned later due to progress in artillery.
