Short walk starting at the entrance of the Fréjus Tunnel.
Start
Leave the car on the parking lot near the tunnel. 850m of ascent for about 4h. No difficulty, except sometimes the route-finding above Plan Allève (vegetation).
Route
Follow the road on a parallel track towards the entrance of the tunnel (big black hidden building, what goes on in there!?). Turn immediately left up a steep forest trail that comes out at Plan Allève (or Lève). On reaching a small wooden chalet, turn right at a signpost and take the path in the general direction of the ridge. Walk past two houses (ruins). Under the third one, go right on to a path that leads to Col de Montrond (2064m). To widen up the panorama, you may climb a little bit from the col towards the Fardel Chalets (2176m). Go down the other side of the col on a very good yellow-marked path. Go past Le Seuil, then Fonge Lune, where you will find the GR5 path that will take you back to the tunnel.
