Short walk starting from les Avanières. You will discover the western slopes of Mont Brequin, and especially, if you go all the way to the orientation table, a superb panorama over the Maurienne and Oisans mountains. From les Assiers to the top, 550m and 2 hours. To have the best sunlight, this walk should be done early in the morning. Updated 28.06.2004. from Beaune, above Saint Michel de Maurienne, take the road to La Traversaz, then turn left about 3kms further on to the road to Les Avanières, built to reach the ex-future Portes du Soleil ski resort. The road turns suddenly into a trail that has to be taken for another 800m, till you reach the "Aux Assiers" signpost, the start of the path. Route
Turn right on top (signpost) and start on the balcony path till you reach the western slopes of Mont Brequin. The Beaune chalets are visible below, and further on, the cross that signals the orientation table is visible on a ridge. You will cross several streams (photo). Once below the cross, walk straight up to the orientation table (no path). The scenery is breathtaking. Choose a clear day.
Descent Walk down again, cross the balcony path and reach a trail below. At a fork, turn left (signpost) on to another trail that passes just below the Beaune Chalets. When the trail turns left, after a long level traverse, do not miss on your right the start of a path that will take you back to your car, near Les Avanières.
